Test drilling for ATES

Where a TRT is essential to make a detailed design for a BTES system, one can also consider performing a test drilling for an Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) system. A test drilling for ATES also consists of a borehole, but in this case equiped with a filter rack in the desired aquifer. Afterwards, we insert a pump in this borehole and let it pump continuously for at least 1 day. At the same time, we measure the flow rate and the reduction of the groundwater level in the borehole.
